Fire Prevention & Fees

Fire prevention is an integral part of the safety of our community.  As part of IFPD's commitment to the residents and visitors of Idyllwild, we provide a number of fire prevention services.  Theses include:

Evacuation Safety and Preparedness

There are times that despite the prevention, fire can still pose a threat and a danger to life.  In these circumstances, further planning and preparation will help to prevent further loss.  IFPD or another authority, in the effort to save lives, may call for an evacuation.  The information below will not only help prepare for that, but also help provide IFPD access to you property.

Knox Box

Knox Box has a special program to allow people to purchase a lock box that is already keyed for their local fire department. IFPD has such an arrangement with Knox Box.  This link is for Idyllwild & Fern Valley ONLY.  If you are in Pinecove, Mountain Center, Garner Valley etc. you will need to contact Riverside County Fire.

Knox Box Procedures Guide
  1. Click the icon to the left
  2. If it not already on the IFPD page, then enter "Idyllwild FPD" for the department name when prompted
  3. Select Idyllwild FPD when prompted
  4. Click the Green "Proceed with Pre-Authorization Order" button
  5. Select and order your items
  6. Once we approve you, they will send a link for you to proceed with your order
